PERSONAL BACKGROUND

Stefan Heizinger was born in 1975 in Linz, Upperaustria. Before high school graduation at Gymnasium Petrinum Linz extracurricular activities in the field of visual art, music and literature. From 1994 artistic studies, at the University Mozarteum Salzburg (AT), especially in the class for painting, in 2000 graduation as master of arts with excellent success, study stay at Sheffield Hallam University (UK), residencies at Cité des Arts in Paris (FR) und Berlin (DE). Stefan Heizinger works as an independent visual artist and cultural producer in Austria, Salzburg and Vienna.

 

ABOUT THE ARTISTIC WORK

In his artistic work Stefan Heizinger transforms found footage and objects to images with new scope of interpretation. On various levels the artist concentrates on questions such as model and self-efficiency, reference and irritation, individual and exposure. A preference lies on figurative images, with focus on man and portrait in relation to their surroundings, challenging contents and an active spatial staging.
